This section always confused me so much so I thought I’d finally take the time to learn it. Also I had a lot of trouble syncing this video with the audio, I phone videos are so annoying in that regard so I eventually just used the auto sync feature with Final Cut. It’s sort of in sync and sort of not, next time I’m using my video camera

One of my goals for the past few years has been expanding my faculties when it comes to playing jazz. I’ve really always been a rock drummer in my heart of hearts and for that reason jazz was always difficult for me. My intuition always felt wrong and I had a tendency to want to insert the backbeat into my playing.Now after many years of essentially forcing myself to play and practice jazz…I feel much more comfortable on jazz gigs.
